Information Technology Consulting Business Owner (12/02-Present)
Responsibilities include providing IT consulting services, developing business and technology infrastructure, defining the marketing and sales approach, negotiating contracts, establishing vendor relationships with software companies, and educating customers and fellow consultants on IT technology trends germane to their markets.
- Authored, reviewed, and edited legal contracts, marketing material, and executive level reports.
- Managed teams of developers that supported a diverse set of multi-media applications that captured, processed, cataloged, and rendered audio, video, and game quality graphical models of the real world.
- Architected and developed the Probe Processing Center that is part of the Vehicle and Infrastructure Integration initiative sponsored by Intelligent Transportation Systems of America. The processing center accepts messages sent by automobiles and roadside units through both cellular and the forthcoming DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) wireless infrastructure. This application was presented at the November 2005 Intelligent Transportation Systems World Congress in San Francisco.
- Architected and developed Voice and Image processing solutions as a member of a High Tech Industry’s Research and Development Group. The voice effort focused on increasing accuracy while the image processing effort focused on building a large scalable central repository for data and meta data collected from cameras mounted on the client’s fleet of cars.
- Architected the solution and developed the middleware of an interactive voice application that allows callers to obtain voice-guided navigation and real-time parking availability. The application was accessed by the caller dialing 511 on their cell phone and was unveiled November 2005 in San Francisco.
- Tuned and automated an existing client data conversion process that had taken 6-8 weeks to run so that it could run in approximately 5 days.
- Managed the Enterprise Resource Planning package selection process for a premier Illinois high school. Activities included working with the client’s senior management, researching the marketplace for product capabilities, and managing the entire RFP (Request For Proposal) and Vendor scoring process.
KPMG Consulting (Chicago, IL) – Senior Manager (12/93-05/02)
Created, motivated, and managed teams of specialists in developing solutions for large financial and government entities.
- Developed a plan to reshape and enhance the Internet Software Development team supporting TexasOnline into one that would be capable of being rated CMM-ML3 (Capability Maturity Level – Maturity Level Three).
- Provided senior level technical guidance and high-level architecture for a global insurance company with respect to implementing a privacy compliance solution and the unique identification of customers and prospects as part of an enterprise CRM (Customer Relationship Management) effort.
- Part of a senior level team responsible for the assessment, quick-hit identification, and initial conceptual architecture for the marketing department of a large mutual fund company.
- Worked with business and technical decision makers within government, government sponsored entities, and large mortgage lenders.
- Led a senior level team responsible for an e-commerce strategy and “acquisition candidate” selection project for a large government sponsored entity. The project involved providing education and direction on e-commerce business models, build strategies, and strategic and tactical partnerships.
- High-level architect and senior manager for the development of a web-based economic forecasting model that is used by a large government entity to predict performance of mortgages, issuers, and their expected impact on the government entity.
- Built and managed a team of approximately twenty-five technical specialists that were responsible for the design, development, and implementation of the firm’s CRM package solution, Mobile Solutions for Banking. The software supported bank officers and their support staffs by providing access to information contained in legacy applications.
The Concepts Software Development (Edwardsville, IL) – Lead Partner (04/89-12/93)
Lead founding partner of a custom software development firm. Among other accomplishments, developed high-speed bit-mapped indexes approximately ten years before becoming available in commercially available databases. Client products built included inventory and accounts receivable systems, automatic employee scheduling software, graphical bulletin board systems (pre-cursor to web server), and geographic information systems.

Publications
Responsible for the technical design and development of an algorithm which was published in the periodical ACM Transactions on Mathematical Software, March 1993 entitled “An Accurate Computation of the Hypergeometric Distribution Function.” This was completed under the mentorship of Trong Wu at Southern Illinois University.
